Story of a teenage Ghost Hunter

The Story of My Night - By Mandi

I guess you can call me your average teenager, always wanting to find answers to things despite all the risks
and consequences. This is the way I used to go into investigations. I always said “Hey, even if I do get
scratched or have an item thrown at me, it would still be worth it.” I suppose you could say I was carelessly
curious. To be fearless doesn't necessarily mean to be safe, and this fact hit me like a rock out of mid-air one
night. The story starts early June when we went to investigate a possible haunting in a residential colonial
home in Litchfield County. There were reports of a young girl around the age of 9 seeing a man in her room
every night keeping her awake. Both the girl and her mother reported seeing, hearing, and even feeling things
out of the ordinary in their house. As we investigated further we found possible theory-changing evidence to
give some meaning to the strange activity.  We found traces of an illegal drug being used by the mother, books
on witchcraft, and full locks of hair on a dresser (could be a sign of voodoo or other ritual). Later on the mother
openly admitted to the practice of occult activities such as Ouija boards and tarot cards. After the news about
the evidence, some of our newer and younger members who were taking part for the first time started
challenging the spirits negatively, this is very wrong.  While this was going on, another team member and I were
in another room, the kitchen, sitting at the table asking for a spirit to show a sign or its presence by moving a
pencil in front of us. The other member I was with then made a faulty comment saying “That’s pathetic it only
shows itself to a nine year-old”, the table then moved about three inches clearly as if someone had just pushed
it. Both mine and the other member’s arms and legs were crossed/folded not even touching the table at all.
Before this occurred I had a feeling that all the activity reported by the mother was psychological and that the
girl just may have a sleeping disorder. But from here on, I knew something was here. At about midnight, we all
packed up and headed home for some much-needed sleep in hopes that in the morning we will find some kind
of evidence when reviewing the pictures and various recordings. Later that night when I was lying in my bed
about two hours in trying to sleep, I had the strangest and scariest experience I have ever had to deal with. All
of a sudden I had a strange, cold, electricity-like feeling throughout my body that I have never felt before, it was
scary. Everything in my room went dark. My fan seemed to slow down, yet got louder. It seemed like something
from a horror movie; I thought I was dying. At that moment I felt like I was back in the house we were
investigating earlier, lying in the young girl’s bed. My arm then was in pain, it felt as if something was squeezing
my arm with all its force. The ‘hand’ that was squeezing me felt cold and wet, like the feeling that comes from a
cat’s nose, but much colder. I then knew I was being attacked. I tried reciting Catholic prayers to protect myself,
but I could’t remember or finish them at all. This was very scary for me because I attended a Catholic school for
nine years and knew my prayers very well. I tried screaming for my father who was a room away sleeping, but
nothing came out. It finally ended after what seemed like forever. I was crying uncontrollably and scared out of
my mind. A couple days later I started seeing strange black shadows and hearing people call my name that
weren’t even there...

Since then I have learned to play it safe and to go into investigations, even ghost hunting in a cemetery, with a
sense of awareness and knowledge. Always think safely and with intelligence, we don’t know what’s out there,
this can happen to anyone.

Better to be safe than sorry.....

This is a true story. Mandi was brought on to this investigation with beliefs that she could
communicate better with the 9 year old child with questioning. NWCPS does not advocate
what the new members did. We do not practice challenging spirits.

Remember- Never challenge a spirit, this could be the mildest of taunts like: Can you show
yourself. By asking it to show itself you are inviting it, even into your home in this case!
Always surround yourself with a "white light" while on an investigation, picture yourself
surrounded with a godly white light for protection. Blessing yourself with holy water in another
act of protection. Remember if you ever have any questions about safety on ghost hunts "PLEASE"
feel free to contact us with any questions- John
